The "El Clavel" brand was founded in 1896 in Cazalla de la Sierra, a whitewashed town nestled among holm oaks and cork oaks in the heart of the Sierra Norte of Seville. Its name has been immortalized, among other things, by the universal renown of its spirits, to which our celebrated Anís del Clavel has contributed since 1896.

The tradition of Cazalla distilleries dates back to the 13th century. It was the Carthusian monks, established in the 15th century, who improved upon the Arab stills and alembics, transforming this Sevillian town into a center of reference for distillers worldwide. In addition to its artisanal tradition, "El Clavel" has inherited its master formula, known since time immemorial as the "Essence of Angel." Passed down through generations, this bouquet, blended into its distillates, is the soul of our products and offers even the most discerning palates the qualities of high-quality liqueurs.

Of the 30 distilleries that existed in Cazalla de la Sierra during its heyday, only two remain, and of these, El Clavel is the ONLY one that maintains the artisanal methods of its founders, renowned throughout Spain and in numerous other countries. All our effort and dedication are focused on recovering and preserving the tradition and artisanal methods that made these products more than just a legend.

Currently, all products are made in our original copper stills, under the exclusive supervision and execution of José Rogelio Navarro, heir to the family's knowledge and tradition, as his grandfather also worked at the factory. It is a slow process that allows us to preserve the essence of each product, without resorting to any chemicals, thus avoiding mass production and focusing on quality.
